Janis is a licensed massage therapist, yoga teacher and root cause/ hormone balancing /functional lifestyle wellness coach. She has a B.S. in Health Education, a Master’s in Health and Physical Education, and an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Supervision. She is also a reiki master and master-level hypnotherapist. Janis previously worked with Dr. Deepak Chopra as an ayurvedic therapist and educator in La Jolla, California. She is currently enrolled in the nutritional endocrinology program through Dr. Rita Loscalzo.

Janis began her professional career as a health educator with the Elizabeth City health department and later as the director of health, physical education and guidance in Bladen and Washington Counties. She left the school system in 1990 after she became a massage therapist and opened her own business, Massage Therapy and Skin Care at Oleander Oaks in Wilmington. She started the massage therapy program at Miller-Motte as its first director and was the director of education for Coastal Carolina Institute for Massage Therapy.

Her massage services include swedish, deep tissue, trigger point therapy, reiki and energywork, craniosacral therapy, cupping, ayurvedic abhyanga, hot stone massage, thai massage, foot reflexology, lymphatic drainage and Bellanina facelift massage.

She loves teaching gentle and restorative yoga as she feels most people could use stress reduction and gentle stretching, moving out of the sympathetic nervous system of “fight and flight” and into the parasympathetic nervous system of “rest, restore, and renew”.

Janis is currently accepting new clients who are interested in being coached in wellness and especially enjoys working with clients with autoimmune disease. She believes in working with her clients’ healthcare professionals, but also wants to empower her clients so they can be informed about their own healthcare needs.
