PAMELA SHOTTENFELD
Pamela, RYT, 200 hr. Vinyasa Yoga Certified, 2006 through Laughing Yoga, RYS and Power House Pilates Mat Certified, 2004, has been actively practicing yoga for over 18 years and teaching for 7 years. She has experience in various settings, such as, Yoga Studios, Fitness Centers, Community Centers, Parks and Recreation Programs and Continuing Education Programs in public schools. Pamela relocated to Southport, NC in August 2012 from Denville, NJ, where she also enjoyed a career as a middle school teacher and cross-country coach.

My passion for teaching yoga comes from the desire to pass on to others, the precious gift of yoga which for me is ‘self love’. Besides the physical benefits of developing strength, flexibility and balance, practicing yoga increases ones concentration and focus which helps to reduce stress and promote calmness, this in turn, leads to connection with ones spirit, bringing about ‘wholeness’."

Although trained in Vinyasa Flow Yoga, my teaching style is eclectic, drawing from experience with various other styles. I encourage the use of props to assist the body in establishing proper, safe alignment, resulting in a strong asana foundation; to be conscious of listening to and honoring your own body with gratitude and not judgment.
