At Island Healing Chiropractic, in addition to traditional chiropractic, Dr. Karen specializes in Applied Kinesiology (manual muscle testing), manual adjustments, instrument adjusting (including the activator tool), extremity adjusting (shoulders, elbows, ribs, hips, knees, ankles, jaw and feet), myofascial work and clinical nutrition to support musculoskeletal issues. Dr Karen also practices Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation (VOM) to improve the quality of life for your furry family members.
Chiropractic care is used most often to conservatively treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, headache, and pain in the joints of the: arms, legs, and jaw. Doctors of Chiropractic practice a drug-free, hands-on approach to health care that includes patient examination, diagnosis, treatment, and patient education. Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills, are trained in a multimodal approach to manual treatment, recommend a range of therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises, as well as to provide nutritional, dietary, and lifestyle counseling.

It is less expensive, less invasive,e and less dangerous to begin with Chiropractic...you can always turn to conventional medical treatments but is that where you want to start in a non-emergency situation? The medical system as it is currently set up is not equipped to deal with chronic problems, diseases of lifestyle, or aging and the cycle of treatment can be devastating! Also, conventional medical doctors can be extremely ignorant about chiropractic, manual medicine, nutrition, and legitimate alternative treatments...it is NOT taught in medical school!

Dr. Karen has always sought to solve her and her patient's health challenges in the most natural, conservative way possible. Most recently, her approach is more geared toward combining chiropractic and functional medicine. Using a combination of chiropractic techniques, lab testing, and muscle testing, she works on supporting the most important systems of the body, looking for the underlying cause of symptoms.

Dr. Mullen has a strong focus on providing care for both children and expectant mothers. She is certified in the Webster Technique, a method designed to correct sacral misalignment and restore balance to the pelvic muscles and ligaments. This technique helps relieve torsion in the uterus, reducing any restrictions on the baby and promoting optimal positioning for a smoother birth experience.
Chiropractic Fees
The office does not accept insurance, including Medicare. Payment is expected at time of service.
